About BrandMate
BrandMate.ai is a Google Maps and reputation management platform for the small business owner who is also the marketing department, the customer service team, and most weeks the bookkeeper too. We built it because nothing on the market actually fit that person.
Origin
BrandMate started inside Jilla Ventures, a small group running and helping operate local businesses across hospitality, services, and trades. The same problem kept showing up in every business โ Google Business Profile was the single biggest source of new customers, but managing it well took hours every week that the owner did not have. The existing tools were either built for marketing agencies (priced and complex) or were rank-tracking tools dressed up as growth platforms (no AI, no replies, no content). The owner who needed help most got nothing useful.
So we built what we needed. Every review reply written for us. Photo prompts when our profile was going stale. Honest competitor reports without the agency markup. Content calendars driven by season and local events, not generic templates. Pricing one operator can afford. We use it ourselves on every business we run. BrandMate is what fell out the other side.
Why AU/NZ-First
Magesh Jilla, the founder, is based in Chennai, India. The decision to build AU/NZ-first was deliberate. AU and NZ small businesses share three traits that make Google Maps the highest-leverage channel anywhere โ high mobile-first search behaviour, strong consumer trust in reviews, and a regulatory backdrop (AHPRA, ASIC, ACCC, NZ Commerce Commission) that punishes lazy automation. A platform that handles AHPRA-aware replies for a Brisbane dental practice can handle anything anywhere. Building for the harder market first means everything we ship ports cleanly to the easier ones.
From there, we have expanded to India, the United Kingdom, Sri Lanka, and Singapore. Each new region was a customer request before it was a business decision. India for the broader services SMB market, the UK for Australian and Indian operators with cross-border practices, Sri Lanka and Singapore for professional services and hospitality operators serving similar customer bases. Currency, language, and locale are handled per-region without forcing one market's playbook on another.
Mission
Two things move a local business โ being found and being trusted. Found means showing up in the Google Map Pack when the customer needs you. Trusted means a recent stream of real reviews with real replies that sound like a human owner, not a marketing department. That is the whole job. Everything we build serves one of those two outcomes.
Team
BrandMate is run by a small team across Chennai and remote contributors in AU and NZ. Magesh Jilla โ founder, builds product, handles customer calls. Engineering, AI, design, and ANZ partner support are split across a tight group of contractors and full-time team members. We do not have a sales team. The product gets demoed by the founder and the people who will support the customer after onboarding. That is on purpose.

How It Works
BrandMate uses AI for the parts of the job that are pattern recognition and language generation โ review replies, content drafting, GBP audits, photo intelligence, ranking analysis. Every output is human-validated by the operator before it goes live. Bulk-approve always asks for a second confirmation. AHPRA-regulated industries (dental, medical, allied health) get an extra compliance guard that pre-screens every reply against the AHPRA advertising rules. The AI is the speed. The operator is the brake.
Compliance
BrandMate is operated under an Australian business identity (Jilla Ventures, ABN registration in progress). Data handling is aligned with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the EU GDPR for any UK and EU data subjects. We do not sell customer data. We do not share it with third parties beyond the integrations the customer explicitly connects. AHPRA-regulated content is gated behind compliance checks. Full privacy policy, terms, and AI disclaimer are publicly accessible and updated when policy changes.
Values

Refunds when it does not work. If the platform is not delivering value in the first 30 days and you have actually used it, we refund. Read the refund policy for the detail. We would rather refund you than have a churned customer telling other operators we wasted their money.
